Learn the Art of Ear-Birding

The purpose of Warble Bird Songs is to help you become a better ear-birder. Our approach is sound-based, so that gaining a visual look at a bird is not necessary for identification or interpreting the sound.

Warble goes beyond simply identifying a bird sound to species. This app includes tutorials explaining the vibrant world that is revealed by the avian soundscape. Our tutorials review different types of vocalizations and their purposes. The terminology section allows you to effectively categorize and describe bird sounds.

A phone displays the main page of the Warble app. A Song Sparrow is perched with its beak opened wide in song. Four purple buttons with the labels of Introduction, Browse Species, Glossary, and Identify Sound sit below the bird.
